Construction Careers: Limavady & St Mary’s High School

On the 24th November, EHA was delighted to welcome 31 pupils from Limavady High School and St Mary’s School to our active construction site on Curly Hill Road, Strabane.

The visit was organised to help inspire the next generation and highlight the wide range of career opportunities across the construction industry.

During the visit, pupils engaged with the CITB Training Bus, where they received an insightful presentation from Amanda Stevenson, CITB Project Manager, who discussed routes into the industry and the skills needed to build a successful career.

This was followed by interactive job-sampling activities delivered by both CITB and EHA, giving pupils hands-on exposure to various construction roles.

EHA also provided an overview of Construction Project Management, walking the pupils through the main construction stages and the different elements that sit within each phase of a project. This helped pupils understand how multiple disciplines work together to deliver a successful build.

A key highlight of the day was a talk from Charlotte Hassan, EHA Site Manager, who shared her personal construction journey—from studying at university, to earning the title of “Apprentice of the Year 2024,” to now running a live construction site in Lisburn. Her story offered pupils a real-life example of progression, determination, and the opportunities available within the sector.

EHA is proud to support initiatives that encourage young people to consider careers in construction, and we look forward to welcoming more schools in the future.
