Derry’s Plymouth CCS Champion
Niall McMenamin, currently on work placement on our Derry’s project has successfully completed all Considerate Constructor Scheme courses to become the site’s CCS Champion. The Considerate Constructors Scheme is a non-profit-making, independent organisation founded in 1997 by the construction industry to improve its image.
Construction sites, companies and suppliers voluntarily register with the Scheme and agree to abide by the Code of Considerate Practice, designed to encourage best practice beyond statutory requirements.
The Scheme is concerned about any area of construction activity that may have a direct or indirect impact on the image of the industry as a whole. The main areas of concern fall into three categories: the general public, the workforce and the environment.
Niall has successfully completed the CCS Induction and is preparing for the first visit from the CCS auditor.
There are currently 10 CCS e-courses available which Niall has successfully completed:
- Introduction to the Considerate Constructors Scheme
- Care about Appearance
- Respect the Community
- Protect the Environment
- Secure everyone’s Safety
- Value their Workforce
- Vulnerable road users
- Mental health awareness
- Preventing illegal working
- Women in construction
As part of the scheme the site has created a suggestions box at the front of the site for public input and interaction, as well as A3 Signs around the site hoarding with Niall’s contact details should they be required.
Niall will host the first CCS Audit on the 14th of March 2018.
