Killaire Wood Lane, Bangor

We recently captured some of the 106 houses at Killaire Wood Lane, Bangor by drone. The houses culminate at the ‘Village Green’ open play area, defined by a crescent arrangement.

Transforming the previous greenfield site which straddled the edge of the development limit and the wider open countryside, the design response was to create a ‘sub-rural’ character based on small groupings of dwellings.

The fantastic team at RMI Architects designed these lifetime homes working with the site structure which was split into three distinct zones, linked by a sweeping spine which culminates in the open play area.

Leading off from the ‘Village Green’ are more clustered arrangements creating a strong community feeling for the residents. We worked collaboratively with the RMI team to ensure buildability and quality of finish in parallel with the implementation of EHAs ISO 9001:2015 Quality System.

The construction of the stylish two and three storey homes in Killaire Wood Lane, Bangor began in April 2016 and were handed over in March 2018, ahead of schedule.

The scheme is shortlisted in the CEF Construction Excellence Awards, taking place this Thursday (18th October 2018).
