Past Project: Mimosa Court, Derry

At EHA we prioritise working with external teams who align with our company values and mission to provide the highest quality projects, built on time and to budget. Collaborating recently with Mc Girr Architects, Belfast was one of these mutually beneficial partnerships we endeavour to create and sustain. Our collaboration has created Lifetime Homes for the new social housing tenants at Mimosa Court, delivering much needed homes for Derry.

Cahal Donaghy goes into more detail about the project and our collaboration:

EHA successfully delivered this high quality sustainable residential environment consisting of 27no. apartments at Mimosa Court, Derry. EHA go above and beyond to ensure that they aren’t just handing over an exceptional home, but an exceptional development. The scheme consists of two buildings each tree storey in height with flat roofs, which successfully breaks the development up in terms of massing and scale and incorporates a central landscaped open space between the two buildings.

Both blocks consist of timber frame construction with solid block work lift shafts. Externally, the buff brick, grey PVC windows and grey Aluminium door systems make for a high specification and modern contemporary design.

The scheme provides spacious, bright environment for all end users and will create an attractive and energetic street frontage to this section of the Strabane Old Road in keeping with the existing street scape. All materials create a vibrant, visually inspiring and ascetically pleasing building compilation.

The development is designed to provide supervision on all open aspects of the site promoting personal safety and achieving ‘Secure By Design’ certification.

The spectacular view from this scheme adds to its warmth and propose of the location as you glaze down the River Foyle and across to the Historic City.

All apartments are fitted with modern kitchens and bathrooms and come complete with floor coverings and wall tiles. Gas fired heating system which includes an energy efficient combination boiler provides instant hot water on demand. Energy efficiency plays a big role in the design of this scheme which contribute to reducing heating bills and ensuring homes are warm and eco-friendly. Alongside the energy efficient boiler, Mimosa Court homes also have a high standard insulation to all elements ensuring minimal heat loss and maintenance free, PVC, energy efficient double glazing with a lockable system.

Externally, landscaped gardens with patio areas ensure these homes look tidy and well maintained and have been well received by their new tenants.
