CIH Award Wins 2022
On Friday 27th may, EHA were honoured to pick up two awards at the Chartered Institute of Housing award ceremony.
Winning Housing Team of the Year 2022 for our project at Mimosa Court, Derry, highlighted the excellent work our entire team undertook during exceptional circumstances.
The commitment, steadfast hard work and management on site ensured the scheme was delivered to our client Arbour Housing an exceptional 6 months ahead of schedule.
This accomplishment was despite several exceptional issues through the build. The project was initially delayed due to the immediate COIVD 19 lock down. When the team were able to continue, detailed site management was implemented to ensure all government regulations were adhered to. The site team were managed throughout each day so all social distancing was maintained when working and when on breaks.
Furthermore there were several labour shortages throughout the scheme as well as numerous procurement obstacles due to Brexit. Availability was a huge issue for the supply chain and required innovative thinking to procure the required supplies. This was due to the committed and diligent effort of EHA’s Procurement Manager and Quantity Surveyor team.
Their solution focused attitude enabled EHA to continue work and deliver these much needed homes ahead of programme, housing families a lot sooner than predicted.
Finally, James Wright – Head of Development Arbour Housing said;
“Arbour Housing are extremely grateful to the hard work of EHA Group who have completed 27 homes for our new Tenants, completed six months ahead of schedule.
EHA worked extremely well in partnership with us, providing great communication and management of a scheme during difficult times with many potential setbacks affecting the industry as a whole. Despite this the team were determined to hand over as soon as viable and 27 families are very happily housed in excellent lifetime homes. We have received great feedback from new tenants and neighbours, happy to have excellent new homes for the community.”
Furthermore, Site Manager Chris Allingham won the highly esteemed award for Excellence in Leadership for his management of Mimosa Court, stated above and also recently at Plymouth Cross.
Chris played a major role in competing this complex scheme in Plymouth City Centre, helping greatly with team collaboration and management, driving deadlines and having a committed and reliable attitude to all works involved to ensure completion to client satisfaction.
Most recently at Mimosa Court, in order to achieve our early completion, several management and leadership skills were required by Chris including, critically, procurement completed in a timely manner, liaising closely with the subcontractors and suppliers.
As a leader Chris is very self- aware. Knowing his skill set and where he can benefit from others, showing reliability in getting the job done if sourcing input is required.
Chris is a highly positive leader and drives positive outcomes shown when several issues arose, through excellent leadership these did not impact handover.
Furthermore Chris oversaw careful planning of COVID 19 restrictions and the general implications this took to continue the contract through very uncertain times.
Prioritising the team, Chris believes nothing could be achieved on his sites without a strong team with high morale. This was most critical during COVID 19 to reassure the team of job security and also positive mental health through this challenging time, being welcoming to any staff concerns.
Chris is very aware of taking full responsibility, he is always happy to get on the ground, work alongside the team and get the job done.
Well done to Chris and all of the EHA Team especially Procurement Manager Raymond Barr, Site Manager Noel Logue, Quantity Surveyor Ronan Devine, Assistant Site Manager David Lynch and the Accounts Team at EHA who enable each of our projects to drive forward to completion.
